In the mindst of pleasant hills sorrounding the town of Custoza

Rich of history and oeno-touristic routes, epicentre of the production of the Bianco di Custoza D.O.C. wine, above which there is the production area of the Bardolino D.O.C., there is the seat of the Piona firm. It was founded in the “Bellavista” neighborhood, on the highest hillock of the hill of Custoza, from where you can enjoy a full view on the Pianura Padana.
The territory is characterized by morainal hills next to Lake Garda, and it's surrounded by the Pianura Padana. The climate is mild, winters are never too cold, and summers are always airy. Custoza and the neighbouring villages offer not only a wine tradition, but also a large gastronomic heritage; the touristic interest is high because walks and bike rides offer the chance to enjoy a still genuine and cosy land.
The Piona firm, which has ancient origins of wine production, always tried to benefiting from this lucky location.
Since four generations opening a bottle in the Piona winery is like opening history, and wine becomes the narrator of won battles and anecdotes. All this occurs in the deepest respect of the ancient tradition handed down by the predecessors, but always taking into consideration the new technologies and the possible improvements by applying modern techniques.
Since the harvest 2005 the Company has has been knowning, also thanks to the contribution of the sons Silvio, Monica, Alessandro and Massimo, a total modernization with all respect to the traditional authenticity.
The new seat, located in Località Casa Palazzina di Prabiano n.2, Villafranca, is placed in a suggestive context, hand in glove with nature, immersed in the grape-vines, and placed in a peaceful and relaxing habitat. The company has been extended to allow the installation of modern and functional oenological equipment, in order to assure strict quality guarantees to the consumer.
It is possible to attend guided tours, better upon reservation, to taste wines and typical local products. In this way the Piona family wants to show how much work, investment and effort is implied in a simple bottle of wine, by inviting you all, who are reading these lines, to experience this.

The vineyards of the company spread out for about 77 hectares in the heart of the classic area of one of the most famous veronese white wines: the Custoza D.O.C. The production of this wine is offered in three varieties, all coming from the ancient experience of the Piona family.

We point out, as particular characteristic of the production: Custoza Superiore D.O.C. and La Rabitta, a sweet Custoza raisin wine D.O.C. Both made from a particular grapes selection.

A very original wine is the “Verde Piona”, produced through natural fermentation in the bottle. The great rosé: Fior di Rosé and Bardolino Chiaretto D.O.C. is also worth tasting.

Also the red wines production is important, and includes examples of incomparable result: Azobè, obtained with Merlot and Corvina grapes, is definitely a full-bodied wine; Bardolino, which D.O.C. demonstrates its long lasting history, has the honour of being centenary wine. The wines of the line Campo Massimo, Merlot and Corvina are fascinating 100% single-grapes wines.
